Nadia Proano

Registered Psychologist

My name is Nadia Proano, and I’d like to welcome you to Well Workshop.  I am a Registered Psychologist who has been helping children- 4+, youth, adults, and their families navigate life's various obstacles over the past 15+ years.  My professional background includes work in different capacities and environments: government, medical, private, and not-for-profit organizations.

My time with the specialized Learning and Development (L&D) Clinic through Alberta Health Services (AHS) ignited a passion for working with neurodiversity (specifically Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder- ADHD).  I have also developed a keen interest in addressing common issues that co-occur with ADHD such as sleep difficulties and anxiety

I integrate many therapies, which allows me to tailor my approach towards your needs.  Approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and/or Narrative Therapy techniques to build compassion and increase clients’ understanding of themselves and others.  EMDR and/or Art, Play, or Sand Therapy techniques are also incorporated as these approaches address an array of issues and assist clients to access and develop less integrated areas of self: body, soul, and mind.

An interpersonal approach to therapy allows me to create a non-judgmental environment of acceptance. My practice is collaborative and strength-based with a focus on solutions, rather than problems. My goal is to support you to realize your strengths and together, source interventions that are helpful to you.

Alongside evidence‑based psychological treatment, I also value holistic conversations about overall wellness. When appropriate, therapy may include discussions about lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, movement, and daily routines, as these can meaningfully impact mental health. I may also explore the role of supplements as part of a broader wellness conversation, always with the understanding that any medical or pharmacological decisions are made in collaboration with a physician, nurse practitioner, or pharmacist. This integrative lens allows me to support clients in a way that is both scientifically grounded and whole‑person–focused.

In addition to my professional training, I bring lived experience with neurodiversity within my family, which has deepened my understanding of how neurodivergent traits can shape relationships, daily routines, and family dynamics across the lifespan. As a wife and mother of two, this perspective informs my work with individuals and families in a way that is practical, compassionate, and grounded in real‑world contexts.
